Island Breeze Performance

On the 27th of October Glen Taylor School had a visit from Island Breeze.  For those who do not know island Breeze, they are a group that is based in Hawaii. All though they may be based in Hawaii each of them come from different parts of the world. They had come to showcase a traditional performance representing their culture. My highlights from this morning was that I was able to learn more about the Hawaiian culture. My low lights was having to sit on the floor for over an hour but it was worth it. I am truly grateful that we all were able to have a great start to our day.

Parts of speech

Last week team Tuis focus for writing was based on Parts of speech. Here is one of our activities linked to the parts of speech. Some of the Parts of speech areas we were learning about were, Adverb, Adjective, Interjection, Conjunction, Noun, Preposition, Pronoun, and lastly Verb. What i’ve learnt so far about them were that each individual part of speech meant different meanings. Some were describing words, some were a place or thing, Some were actions.

Number Talk

Today for maths Team tui had a meeting in room 12 for our weekly number talk. For today’s number talk we learn about Integers. Something I really enjoyed learning about Real numbers such as Natural, Whole, Integers, Rational, Irrational and Real. Something I really enjoyed learning about Integers is that it counts both ways negative and positive.

Copyright Cybersmart

For this weeks Cybersmart challenge, it taught us about what Copyright is. I have learnt so many new things about copyright and will now share some thoughts ‘s with you all. Something I learnt about copyright is that it is a law that is stop you from taking information or texts from people’s hard work without asking for permission. What I mean by other people’s work includes, Music, Movies, Books, Ideas and many much more.

Word Work

For Monday must do we had to complete 3 read theory quizzes and complete 2 slides from our Word Work to show our understanding of certain vocab. It is for us to have have prior knowledge before we have our guided session with our Teacher. I enjoyed completing the two activities. The two activities I chose were to make a word search of my own using my spelling words and my second one was to make a pyramid using my spelling word.

Probability Games

Today after Glen Taylor had their karakia assembly, Team Tui stayed back to play some Probability games, but first Team Tui were put into 3 groups. Our first rotation activity were bottle flip. What we had to do was get a bottle flip on camera to get a prize. Our second rotation was that we had a list of specific type and kind of cards we had to flip over. For example we had to flip a card within the number 5 and 10. Our last rotation was Greedy pig. In this activity we each get one dice. We have to roll the dace and add it up to 50 then we will get a treat. But if we roll the number 1 we would have to go back to 0. My experience during the fun games was challenging because some of us arnt as talented and some of us are. But so far today kicked off with a good start.

Statistics

For maths today I can gladly say that I have beaten my goal once again. My goal last time I did hit the button was to get over 30 and I managed to reach my goal by getting a total score of 32. This time my score for hit the button was 35. For prototec, before, my timer was over 3 mins but luckily this time I was able to do my times tables in 2 mins. I am truly grateful that I was able to achieve a higher score.

Statistics

For Maths today we got the choice to 2 choices to either play hit the button or prototec so me and my buddy decided to give them both a try. Somehow I managed to get 100% on Prototec on my timetables. As you can see the timetables I accomplished were 1,2,5 & 10 in 3m 7s. My goal was to get at least 30 on hit the button but some how I was able to get over that number by 2. To be honest it was very challenging due to the amount of time I had to reach my goal but in the end I new I was going to make it especially when I had my buddie by mine side.

Too Much Telly?

1. On Sunday they each did their homework for only 30 minutes.

2. On Saturday Jessie watched 3 hours TV, Nina watched 2 hours and 30 minutes of TV, and Ruka watched 4 hours on TV  instead of using his time wisely and doing his home work.

3. Yes it is true because Jessie watches more TV then doing her homework / She did her homework for 2 hour the whole week.
