For the past few weeks room 13 have been working on a very important piece of art work that was to do with our big focus on Matariki. For this piece of art we were needed to chose 3 of the Matariki stars and draw what they connect or associate with and my 3 stars that I have chosen as you can see by the image, Tupu-a-Nuku, Ururangi, and lastly Waipuna-a-rangi.
Today after Assembly Team Tui played a little game called password. For the game as you can see we need 4 volunteers to come up and play. They need to pick a partner and stand behind them. The 2 people behind gets a password and they have to use key words to describe the word they were given and there partner have to guess what the main word is. Who ever gets the word right wins. Once one of the 2 get the word right they all have to swap over so that they others can get a turn to guess. This game was very challenging but when it was my turn my me and my partner won.
On the first day of term 3, Monday 17 of July, Team Tui’s focus for the last couple of days was to complete and publish our work on Matariki. The task was to pick 3-5 of the Matariki stars and put it all together to make a poem on our senses. For my 3 stars I chose the stars were Pohutukawa, Waiti, and Ururangi. And for my 3 senses I chose Seen, heard, and felt. Pohutukawa was my Seen, Waiti was my heard, and Ururangi was my felt. Here is my Matariki poem.
On Tuesday 20th of June 2023 Room 13 went out to the field for Kelly sport. For Kelly sport we got the opportunity to learn the game Rugby League. It was a great chance for us to learn because most of us don’t play or know how to play. Something I didn’t really enjoy was having to get down on our knees there for our knees started to turn red and began to hurt.
What we started off with going over what we did the week before just to make sure we remember so we could move on. We then had a little game of ball rush but we could tackle but the challenging part for me was having to go on my knees.
For those who are still confused about what we did. Firstly we had one person who was on his knees in front of everyone else and the rest had to get from one end to another. The people who got tackled had to join the tacklers and try to get the others.
Altho we had fun some of us sat out because they weren’t feeling like playing. I really love the fact that most of us participated, especially those who don’t really do sports.
For today’s maths we have been learning about how to use the strategy of BEDMAS. This maths was pretty challenging for me because this was the first time I have learnt how to use it. Even though it was very complicated I still managed to finish in the end.
For today’s maths we were learning about how to create an equation using google sheets. We then had to use the equation to calculate more numbers. We also had to create a chart using all the information we have gathered from the table.
On the 13th of June 2023 Room 13 had Kelly sports, and for today’s sport we had rugby. We didn’t really play a game of rugby because some of us didn’t know the basics and how to play it. So both our coaches Dion and Lucas taught us how to do a Spiral pass and a flick pass. We even got to play a little game where we get in 2 groups and line up in 2 lines and past the ball from one end to another then back. The losing team had to get punished.
